Style on Pylon

Today I thought I would focus on the illuminated pylons, which have been a regular feature over the years.  In the early days, when the lights were simpler, lamps and pylons were a mainstay of the Illuminations, particularly in the 1930’s.

In the 1920’s and 30’s before Blackpool Council had an in-house designer, much of the artwork was created by outside design companies.   As in this instance, the neon pylons were designed by “Ionlite” but others are unnamed.

Looking back at photographs, the pylons created a very elegant and stylish look along the promenade.  I think it would be great to re-create some of these in the future…..
